WSIS Award Handedover to Prime Minister

As a 'Building Confidence and Security in Use of ICT', Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) for  the development of secure video conferencing system 'Baithak' and in the 'Capacity Building' category, Shikshak Batayan, an initiative of a2i awarded the United Nations World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS)-2024.

These two international awards were handed over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday as a global recognition of the capabilities of digital Bangladesh based on information technology.

Minister of State for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak handed over the crest and certificate of honor to the Prime Minister in the Cabinet meeting room of the Prime Minister's Office. At this time, ICT Department Secretary Md. Samsul Arefin, Bangladesh Computer Council Executive Director Ranajit Kumar, A2i Project Director Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan were present with the State Minister.

Zunaid Ahmed Palak received the winner and champion medal from the headquarters of International Telecommunication (ITU) in Geneva, Switzerland on May 28. This year, 18 projects were awarded as winners and 90 projects were awarded as champions out of 360 projects selected from 1,490 projects submitted from different countries around the world. On that day, Junaid Ahmed Palak, Minister of State for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, received the award from the hands of ITU Director Dr. Cosmas Lakison Yavajava. Molla Mizanur Rahman, Joint Project Director of A2I was also present that event.
